Make Your Voice Heard  -  How to Testify Before the DC Council

Public hearings are one of the most direct ways to influence policy in DC. When you testify, your words become part of the official record - and council members hear directly from the people their decisions affect. You Don’t Have to Be an Expert. You just have to care. If you’re a parent, student, educator, or resident in Wards 7 & 8, your experience IS the expertise.

How to Testify (3 Steps):

  1. Find a hearing: Visit the DC Council Calendar for upcoming hearings.
  2. Sign up: Contact the committee listed on the hearing notice to register as a witness.
  3. Need help preparing? Email us at info@electeddc.org – we’ll help you get ready.

Accessibility:

All hearing rooms offer closed captioning. ASL interpretation available with 5 days’ notice. Contact the committee’s point of contact for accommodations.
